Invited Talk to the Xxvi International Meeting on Fundamental Physics

چکیده
We present a brief pedagogical introduction to the Effective Electroweak Chiral Lagrangians, which provide a model independent description of the WW interactions in the strong regime. When it is complemented with some unitarization or a dispersive approach, this formalism allows the study of the general strong scenario expected at the LHC, including resonances.

Summary: Gravitation and Cosmology
The XXVI Encontro Nacional de Fı́sica de Partı́culas e Campos (ENFPC: Brazilian National Meeting on Particles and Fields) took place in São Lourenço, MG, Brazil, in October 2005. I was invited to deliver the summary talk on the area of gravitation and cosmology, in which I took the opportunity to briefly present a historic sketch of the ideas related to relativity, gravitation and cosmology in ge...
متن کاملOn Some Features of the M–5–brane
We review the structure and symmetry properties of the worldvolume action for the M–theory 5–brane and of its equations of motion. Invited talk given at the Trieste Conference on Superfivebranes and Physics in 5+1 Dimensions (April 1–3, 1998), and at the 2nd INTAS Meeting “Fundamental Problems in Classical, Quantum and String Gravity” (Paris, 1–3 May, 1998) Alexander von Humboldt Fellow On leav...
متن کاملInvited talk at the IXth International Symposium on Particles, Strings and Cosmology
While the Kobayashi–Maskawa single phase origin of CP violation passed its first crucial precision test in B → J/ψKS, the chirality of weak b-quark couplings has not yet been carefully tested. We discuss recent proposals for studying the chiral and CP-violating structure of these couplings in radiative and in hadronic B decays. Invited talk at the IXth International Symposium on Particles, Stri...
متن کاملThe Future of Particle Physics
After a very brief review of twentieth century elementary particle physics, prospects for the next century are discussed. First and most important are technological limits of opportunities; next, the future experimental program, and finally the status of the theory, in particular its limitations as well as its opportunities. Invited talk given at the International Conference on Fundamental Scie...
متن کاملAnticipating a New Golden Age
The standard model of fundamental interactions is remarkably successful, but it leaves an unfinished agenda. Several major questions seem ripe for exploration in the near future. I anticipate that the coming decade will be a Golden Age of discovery in fundamental physics. Based on an invited talk at SUSY07, Karlsruhe, July 2007. This paper follows the talk closely.
